Assignment – 11/18/25

Defense Focus

Focus: Hustle-based M2M defense, help-side awareness, movement with the ball.

Our practices so far have emphasized defense. I’ve stressed to the players that defense is built more on hustle and effort than on perfect technique. Even when we’re unsure of exactly what to do, demonstrating hustle and grit will make a difference in games.

We’ve been working on:

Man-to-man fundamentals: low, wide stance to stay between player and basket.
Team defense: one hand toward your man, one hand toward the ball.
Movement with the ball: adjusting positioning as the ball moves around.

Some of these concepts are new, but the players are progressing. Over time movements will become more natural and automatic.
